Zion Tunnel book!

I have been having some real fun in the studio creating book structures that are new to me. And realizing some ideas I have been carrying around in my head for a long time. This little tunnel book is my first effort to make a “pop-up” of the Zion view I have had for the last years in my job as a Zion National Park shuttle driver. The lot where we keep all of the buses has this down-canyon view of the canyon. The daturas were exploding in blooms last fall and I captured them in the foreground. The next layer showing the prickly pear cactus in mature fruit stage is actually from the front of our house although they do proliferate within the canyon as well. My first effort utilized this floral leaf print paper from Nepal that faces the tunnel book. My next successive efforts have utilized this beautiful canyon-red marble paper from Bangladesh. I think it wonderfully mimics the red Navajo Sandstone we have in the canyon with its vertical streaks of desert varnish. I have really enjoyed bringing all of these elements together to create a little Zion Canyon experience which one can take with them wherever they go!
